Westboro Baptist Church

When I read about how the Westboro Baptist Church protested at a fallen soldier’s funeral, I was pissed. I do believe that we have freedom of speech, but I also believe in respecting another person’s personal feelings and I think by going to a funeral with signs saying things along the lines of “Thank God for maimed soldiers”, and “God blew up the troops” just is wrong. Yes, they have freedom of speech, but people do have the right to grieve without annoying people like Phelps, and his church coming to their funeral shouting and holding signs. Not only that, but they are protesting gays too? What’s next… abortion? I do believe in safe protests, but people do have personal boundaries, and it’s not fair (in my point of view) that protesters are allowed to go to a person’s town… where they are not from and protest a funeral of a person who never once say anything to them or even knows who they are.
When it comes down to the Gay’s protesting that church… yeah I would probably be standing right next to them if I lived in Topeka. I believe that yes, the church does have a right to protest same sex marriage, and even the thought of same sex couples, but I think they can do it in more civil ways. Yes the First Amendment does protect them, and does allow them to make signs, and shirts, and banners, but this church takes it too far. They degrade these people for what they believe; they have a right to their own beliefs too. Why not bring that to court?
Along with the protesting of funerals, this church plans to go and protest the funerals of those who were killed in the Arizona shooting. Don’t you think this church has taken it too far? Someone needs to knock them off their Trojan horse. Maybe they have the right to free speech and religion, but so do other people and they won’t like it when someone comes back at them one day and just puts them in their place. Don’t be surprised if it’s me. I’m waiting on them to show up at a funeral I’m at, they won’t like what I have to say in my freedom of speech. But just like them I’ll make my freedom of speech and religion heard. If they don’t think it’s fair to have people against them. They shouldn’t make a big deal out of civil things that aren’t their concern. They also need to wake up. I would like to know what Bible he’s getting his heavenly doctrine from, and where he got his ministry license.

Easter

Easter Sunday is reserved as a time that we reflect on how Jesus died on the cross for us. We go to church to remember him, and worship in his name. Even if you don't attend church regularly, along with Christmas, Easter is a good time to go and give your blessings to the Lord. It's a time that most people take out of their busy lives to go to church and speak to God.

This Easter, I attended church for the first time in a year. I grew up Mormon and I have never been to any church other than those of that faith. Since my little sister has been attending Wednesday night services with a friend who lives down the street from our house, my family decided to attend that churches Easter services. It was different. I've never been to a church that wasn't so serious. They all weren't dressed up, there were people in jeans and a nice shirt. I wasn't used to that. They were also so nice, the kids all had fun, and they didn't just sing hymns, they had a band set up and people from their congregation singing, and they served COFFEE!!!!!

Growing up Mormon, you were dressed in your Sunday's best, you sang hymns in Sacrament meeting, and you didn't talk. People would give the lesson in the meeting, and you would sit there, if a person performed a special song, then you didn't clap afterwards, you were just silent, and then after the hour of sacrament meeting you split up where the men and women had meetings, and the kids had their combined class. In the combined classes for kids, you just sat there for another lesson, they were usually pretty boring and I got in trouble alot for cracking jokes, because I would be so bored it felt good to just laugh for once. Then you had Young Men's and Young Women's class, which is the next hour of class and you would be split up where the class was just boys and just girls.

Today was just different for me, everyone got along, they didn't split up into boys and girls groups, they all sang, and clapped at this church. It was awesome, they sang songs that weren't old, they were new, and had more than just some old lady playing the piano behind them. It was a good different that I wasn't used to.

April showers?

Well, I can honestly say that this month there has been nothing but rain, and some flip flopping weather. It goes from being sunny and 70 degrees to snowing at 32... In April!!!!!! How does that happen? I think mother nature needs to realize that it's spring, and stop messing around and playing video games.. Let's go girl!! Stop being lazy!!

But what is up with the weather outside? I guess I need to get used to it considering I've lived in Missouri most of my life. It's different up here with everything. In Missouri, the weather was moist and humid all year round. Plus at this time of year the weather would be warm, and stay that way. It would hardly ever not be warm.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of all the rain. I love the sun, with a passion. I can't stand when it's rainy. It puts me in a gloomy mood, and then I'm cranky all the time. So hopefully we'll see some sun for the soccer game vs. Prarie on Thursday?! That would be nice. :) There's nothing I love more than a warm game of soccer. Playing in the cold is not fun and my legs freeze. Just throwing that out there.

Best Song I've heard in a while

So my all time dream is to be a singer like justin Beiber. I want to be able to record music like he is. I love his songs. I litterally have them on repeat on my iPod. He's a semi-idol for me. I want to make my own music, and I want people to be able to hear it. I really wish that I would find a way to let someone hear my voice. I can't do all the work on my own.

I don't know if you've heard this song but it speaks to my heart and soul, and its just a 16 year old boy singing it. I love this song. I can relate to all the words he and the girl on the track are singing. Its such a lovely duet. I hope you enjoy it.

Drugs

I've never understood why people get into drugs. Honestly, they are fun for a while, but making your life out of using them? No, never have understood it. Being addicted to something is all in your head. You start drugs because of peer pressure and everyone around you doing it. Its the desire to "look" cool to the people around you. Doing drugs isn't okay. I draw the line when you start snorting white powder up your nose and injecting yourself with dirty needles. Who the hell does that shit? I couldn't see myself having the guts to do it, or feeling so low in my life that I would feel the need to. I don't understand why anyone else would.

The only drug I can stand to be around is weed. I know countless people who have smoked it, and none of them do it on a regular basis even though you can be addicted to it just like cigarettes. Although being addicted to weed is all in your head. You mentally need it to feel the high, you mentally need it to concentrate, there's always an excuse to keep using it. I don't personally know how you can concentrate under the influence of marijauana, since my friends seem to think everything is funny the whole time they are high.. but I guess thats what happens, and the effects are different for everyone.

But what makes a person physically addicted to drugs? that I would like to know. What's in them that makes your body so depenedant on its effects? Why is it so hard to get rid of. Why do people relapse after rehab? are they stupid? So many unanswered questions. What makes a person do Crystal Meth and Cocaine? I feel like they weren't just laying in bed one day thinking of things to do and said.. "Oh hey.. i think ill try meth today.. let me just stick a needle in my arm and get high". People are idiots in the world these days. I want to find an addict and ask them why this shit is so important to them and why they do it.. then I want to ask them if they weren't addicted to it, would they do it again? Would they even touch it if they had another chance?! Maybe we should make this a project. Go to the Rehab place in town and hear the stories of the kids in there.. I would love to learn about this some more.

Graduation

Today is April 16th. Only 32 days until I graduate from High School, and only 31 days until I turn 18. My graduation is the day after I turn 18, and my party is the day after I graduate so I'll have a pretty busy week. I can't wait though.. Prom is the week before and I'm so excited. I'll be out of high school. It still hasn't hit me yet though.

When I graduate my hopes are to go to Mount Mercy University, but I just don't have any money. My parents won't pay for my college or sign for any loans, so it's very possible that I'll have to go to Kirkwood until I can get enough money to move out and pay my way through Mount Mercy. In college I want to double major in Music and History with a minor in Legal studies. But I don't know how that's going to go. I'm hoping that I can get a soccer scholarship and play for them. But I guess we'll have to see how thats going to go. I also want to play volleyball in college, but it's been a while since I've played, and I don't know if I'm still eligable for scholarships concerning that sport.

My all time goal in life is to be a professional singer. But You and I both know that it's a long shot to get famous, and it takes a special voice to get to that level, and from there on you'll have no privacy. So if I can't be a famous singer, I want to be a lawyer. I'm trying to study as much as I can in those classes, which is why I guess I'm slacking off so much in AP Language. I need to step it up though starting now. I need to make it. I have to make it, my first goal is to make it to graduation, and then after that through college. I refuse to be poor. I'm going to have a good enough job to keep myself going and I won't be in debt either. I can't do it. I so much to look forward to, and the whole world is going to start for me in 32 days. I've only got a month until I'm an adult. It's time I've graduated High School.

Rebecca Black- Friday

Okay so I'm not sure how many of you have seen this music video so here it is. You might need some ear plugs because this is the most annoying video/ song ive ever seen and heard. SERIOUSLY go by some ear plugs. Her voice is so annoying!! How did she ever get a record deal? Oh my gosh, she would have been booed off the stage here.

Not only that, but this girl is 13, what in the hell could she possibly know about partying? Not much obviously. Parties, aren't watching movies with your friends while eating chips and dip on the couch. They consist of NO PARENTS, a semi-big house, Alocohol (tons of it), cute guys (not little boys), cute girls (NOT 13 year olds), and kids who have at least hit puberty. I mean seriously, this is the worst and most idiotic song I've ever heard in my life. What are her parents trying to do? They just got their daughter into one of the most embarrassing situations. Everyone now knows her name, and her annoying little voice. She can't sing, she can't write music, and she looks her age. What teenager or anyone older would want to date her? NOT ME hahahahhahahahaha little kids crack me up.

Maida Dizdarevic

So one of my bestfriends name's is Maida. She was born in Bosnia in 1993. Her family moved to America when she was around 3 or 4 and have lived here ever since. She's always tan which makes me jealous and she speaks fluent Bosnian. (which I will learn some day along with French, Italian, Danish, and Pig-Latin). You may be asking yourself why I'm writing a blog post about her. Well, she's an interesting person.

Her favorite animal is the baby seal. She wants one for a pet some day. She also drives this little white Rio.. it's cute. Especially since it pretty much fits her personality. She absolutly loves Sour Cream. I've never seen anyone eat straight sour cream till we had the same lunch hour. On Taco days at school, you better watch out.. She's known to snatch your sour cream wedge.

She used to work at Chuckie Cheese, but she got frustrated with the stupid peole who work there and well.. left, which is okay, I totally understand her decision. Now she works at Napoli's a new Italian Restaurant. It's cute :) and I heard that the food there is good. Anyways, we've been best friends since I moved to Iowa. So it's about time I dedicated a blog to her. :) oh and she's in my group for prom. <3

Should the Drinking age be 21?

Have you thought about it? should the drinking age really be 21? When your 18, if you can join the army.. Shoot a few people, possibly kill someone and buy cigarettes and cigarillos then why not lower the drinking age to 18? Seriously, it's not like none of us don't drink anyways or smoke cigarettes in High School. Let me raise a few points for you here...

1. If you can work at a restaurant and serve alcohol at the age of 18, why not be able to drink alcohol? Whats the difference?
2. If you can be sent overseas to war in a 3rd world/ ghetto/ whatever else kind of country there is, with an automatic riffel at the age of 18, why not be able to drink the thoughts of killing someone away?
3. If you can buy cigarillos for weed (yes, they are used for weed, I don't know one teenager who doesn't use them for that, we are too lazy to roll tobacco when we can just get cigs) why not let us drink at 18.
4. If you can buy your own house at the age of 18, you should be able to buy your own alcohol.. it's your life right?!
5. If you can sign your life away with thousands of dollars in debt because of student loans, the government should allow you to drink your life away with alochol at the same age. (thats a joke)
6. If you can get permanent tattoos, and piercings by yourself at the age of 18, you should be able to get alcohol at the age of 18.
7. If you can even smoke those damn Cancer Sticks (Cigarettes) at the age of 18, then you should be able to drink the damn rat poison too at age 18.

Its funny to me how we can do all of those things at the age of 18 but we can't drink? I feel like Iowa should just go ahead and let us do what we want and drink, it's not like we don't anyways. To me lowering the age would save cops from giving out Paula tickets, and PI's. It would also save them from busting so many underage parties. If we could have alcohol at 18 then no one would be in trouble for being drunk at parties, or on Campus at colleges. Life would be soooooooo much better. Well... for me anyways

Welllll then...

Something that I've noticed over time is how everyone tweets how they feel nowadays instead of just telling the person to their face. I mean, whats the point. If you can say it to them on the computer in front of everyone then why can't you say it to their face?! its the same thing.

And what makes a person want to tweet? You see a fat chick walking with a twinky and now you have the urge to tweet.. "Just saw this fat chick eating a twinky... #winning".. okay hahahahaha you better hope she doesn't follow beacuse she'll know it was about her. You might as well just say it to her. I feel like everyone should get out of the habit of talking shit about others on twitter. just confront them if you have something to say.

Another problem I have with this is facebook, people are now trying to make status's like tweets. Don't make your facebook status somehting different every 5 mins. Your profile will get annoying, and I'm honestly not interested in knowing your life every 5 seconds... facebook isn't made for that.. but twitter is, thats why its none stop status's, or random thoughts and if your getting confused or are confused. Please tell me, I would be glad to help you fix your little problem you now have.  (Sorry that was rude) Anyways, one last thing, don't say anything you can't back up. If you can say it online.. you need to have enough balls (figurativly speaking) to be able to take ownership for it when someone asks you about it. If you cant then you shouldn't have even said in the first place.

Proms coming

Okay so Prom is coming up and I am EXCITED!
This years theme is Masquerade, and for our Grand March we get to wear masks that we decorate and we have cat walk so its like we are doing a fashion show. I'm so excited. Plus I have the best date in the world. My best friend Cody Lewis... He's a big ball of fun and even though everyone thinks it will be awkward. I know that I'll have a good time with him. We always do, and I would rather go with someone that I'll have fun with then a person who is gonna annoy the piss out of me, and want more than just a night of dancing and fun.. if you know what I mean. I'm not like that I really don't want to mase someone, because I will.

For the after prom we are having swimming and a hypnotist... Guess who's gonna be first in line?! THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE. I'm so excited... even though its still a month away. So happy!!!!!!! :) Cody and I are going get his tux this weekend from my friend Tiffany who works at Mens Wearhouse.. so anyone who knows her.. go there she'll help you find an affordable tux for prom. (Just putting that out there) I'm just over excited about Prom I guess. This weekend, well tomorrow actually I'm going to Marion's grandmarch because my friend Autumn is going to Prom there this weekend with a friend of hers from work. I can't wait to see her all dressed up. The girl is gorgeous and her dress is Black and Turquoise. She's going to be gorgeous. I can't wait. I'm going to be like the annoying mom taking a million pictures of her. She doesn't even know yet. :) Oh well. But anyways I'll keep you updated. :) Peace, Love and 28 days till I'm out of high school!

Kennedy Soccer 2011

Welcome to soccer season.
The weather is nice, elbows are still thrown and the refs are still on some bullshit.
Last night was the boys and girls varsity double header game at Kingston vs. Jefferson, and I am complaining because we need a new team of refs. I don't think that I've ever been so pissed off in my life. Yellow cards were flying everywhere, but mostly on our team. In the boys game one of our foreign exchange students got a yellow card because he supposivly pushed one of the players. Thats bullCRAP. If anyone should have been called it was Jefferson players. It looked like they were trying to grind (dance) on our players. I mean seriously?!
The ref was supposivly an MLS ref.. well if thats the case.. I know why he isn't anymore. HE MAKES DUMB CALLS?! really.. c'mon now. This is why your reffing a high school game. No one on your level likes you. Sorry, if you can't tell I'm pretty pissed. The boys ended up winning 3-2, but I think that the refs were making shitty calls.

When it comes to the girls game. The ref who was giving out yellow cards was the reason we lost the game 0-1 to Jefferson. It went like this. The balls in the air.. the goalie jumps out of her box to get it, it slips out of her hands and PILO (Hannah Palamo) comes up takes the ball and makes a shot. Well the idiot sideline ref (same one who was shitty in the boys game) says the went out the end of the field so no goal and instead a corner kick. Bull crap.. he was just cold and wanted to go home. We only had 1 minute left in the game when we got that goal and we would have had to go into overtime. His decision caused us to lose the game when we really could have won it, and it was an actual goal. I don't think that I've ever been so pissed off in my life. I think that its mostly because we were playing Jeff. I mean come on.. its jeff. Really?! stupid Kirkwood refs. Get a new job I don't like you right now.

Anyways now our record is 3-1 varsity. At least the JV beat Jeffs. But still I guess you can say I'm very protective over my team, and I know a bullshit call when I see one. I don't know one cougar fan that wasnt pissed at the end of the game. I know I was pretty livid, and I still cringe at it. But hey, we have state still right?! We got this. Plus we still have the game against Linn-Mar, and I can't wait. I'm excited for that too. Oh well. I'll keep everyone updated on our games.
Here's our games and records for girls so far.

Varsity: Muscatine (win 3-0)
Dubuque Hempstead (win 4-0)
Dubuque Senior (win 5-0)
CR Jefferson (loss 0-1)

JV: Muscatine (loss 1-3)
Dubuque Hempstead (win 2-1)
Dubuque Senior (loss 1-2)
CR Jefferson (win 2-0)

Thats all so far. But we will beast this season. I know it :)
